Center for Magneto-Optical Research (CMOR) is a scientific-research institution associated with the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy, and Applied Computer Science of the Jagiellonian University. The Center was founded in January 2006 by the staff of the Department of Photonics of the Institute of Physics JU. The research interest of the Center covers nonlinear optical and magneto-optical phenomena in room-temperature and ultra-cold gases. The studies are basing on analysis of physical phenomena associated with light-atom interaction and practical applications of the phenomena. In particular, they are applied for ultra-sensitive magnetic-field measurements and quantum-state engineering. Recently, the research interest was also directed towards photonic materials and their potential applications in atomic physics and sensor technology.
